A surgical procedure performed to reconstruct a ruptured achilles tendon. This procedure involves the surgeon making one or more small incisions in the area of the achilles tendon. Once the achilles tendon has been viewed and evaluated the surgeon will use specialized sutures to reattach the ruptured portions of the achilles tendon. Sutures are placed above and below the area of rupture to ensure that a strong connection is formed. The incision is then closed with either a stitch or sterile adhesive strips.
Achilles tendon repair is performed as an outpatient procedure using a Minimally Invasive Approach at Regency Healthcare’s state of the art surgical facility. Patients will not need to stay overnight and will be able to leave the surgical practice the same day.
