Incisional Hernia Surgery

An incisional hernia is the result of a surgical incision that has failed to heal properly in or near the abdominal area. The hernia can develop quickly or years after the fact. Surgery for incisional hernias can be done under local or general anesthesia, depending on hernia size and patient preference. Laparoscopic surgeries (performed with the use of a thin, lighted scope) are done under general anesthesia.
